芜湖高新技术创业服务中心是省科技厅批准的科技服务机构，主要任务是依托芜湖经济技术开发区创造一个良好的环境，引进新的竞争机制为创业者提供全方位的服务；吸引国内外高新技术成果持有者来芜湖创业，积极培育高新技术企业和企业家，促进高新技术成果产业化，为我市经济发展注入新的活力。 芜湖高新技术创业服务中心是由芜湖市科技局与芜湖经济技术开发区共同投资兴办的科技创业服务机构，行政隶属市科技局，业务归口省科技厅管理。 创业服务中心以'科技兴国、服务社会'为己任，本着'急为创业者所急、想为创业者所想'的服务宗旨，全面的发挥服务作用，减少高新技术创业者风险和困难。 2001年8月芜湖高新技术创业服务中心被科技部授予创业中心称号。
